Be it outside country wedding reception at a ranch or a classy indoor 5 star resort often times clients aren’t sure which is a good song for a father-daughter dance. They don’t want it to be too cliche, or too overplayed. Often they want it to be slow and very sentimental, sometimes they want it to be upbeat and light. It all depends on the client and often times it’s not the bride dancing with her dad but a stepfather or grandfather, sometimes even mother of the bride. Regardless it is a dance of honor and sometimes can be shared with the groom and his mother but for the sake of this post I will stick with father of the bride.

One thought is to let the father of the bride pick and another is to make it a surprise from the bride but here’s a list of some songs that I think are great ideas for father daughter first dance songs:
